With the warmer weather approaching, we’re loving the build up to the tanning season. The sun has got its hat on, meaning the layers are being shed, the salad leaves are back in the fridge, and the ‘it-is-what-it-is’ vibes are becoming the default once more. Summer, and all the goodness that comes with it is being restored.
However, do you ever find that skin feels that little bit drier at times, as the temperature raises? This can be something that can be an ageing concern, but don’t worry, we’ve got the tips to keep skin feeling plump, glowy and youthful all summer long!
Why is SPF the anti-ageing miracle?
Did you know that SPF should be worn year-round for the best anti-ageing impact. Not only does sun cream work to protect skin from UV, but it also works as a barrier against air pollution and environmental stressors for the best condition possible.
What’s more, did you know that, unlike UVB, UVA can be the same strength year round? Also known as the ageing ray, UVA is a short wavelength which can break down collagen and elastin in the skin, impacting the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This can travel through clouds, fog and glass, meaning that even if you apply a facial SPF daily throughout spring and summer, not continuing this throughout the winter can leave you exposed for half of the year. Although this won’t lead to sun burn, this can still result in premature ageing, fine lines, wrinkles and skin damage.
With this in mind, sun cream suddenly seems like a clear essential of our daily skincare regime for that glowing, youthful complexion!

Moisturising is key
Dry skin is the enemy. Full stop. No arguments whatsoever on this one. Dry skin emphasises fine lines and wrinkles. It slows down tan development, and it sheds the results you build faster. Overall, it’s just not the one. So with all things considered, falling back onto our trusty advice of ‘moisturise, moisturise, moisturise’ doesn’t go amiss here!
Moisturising will help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We recommend applying this after periods which would otherwise leave skin stripped of its natural oils:
- Showering
- Bathing
- Tanning
- Sunbathing
- Swimming
- Sweating
- Saunas and other heat treatments
Moisturising after these drying activities helps to maintain skin’s natural moisture levels of soft, smoothed skin and a more youthful glow.
What’s more, did you know that certain ingredients really put the work in? By applying lotions with magical words like “collagen”, “ceramide” and “hemp seed oil” all work to deeply soothe, nourish, rejuvenate and regenerate skin for a glowing complexion. Things like collagen even work deeply to help lock in moisture and plump skin for a youthful boost!
